Nadal through to third round in paris
Nadal is appearing in Paris for the first time since 2009 having missed the last three years with injury, but the top seed looked as pretty good despite being pushed to a 7-5 7-5 victory
Nadal could manage just two breaks of serve, but crucially they both came at 5-5 in each set to enable him to then serve out for the lead and later on the match.
Granollers, who could only get in 58 percent of his first serves, forced just a single break point that Nadal saved, although he did make it hard work for the World No 1.
Nadal took an hour and 42 minutes to seal the victory, which sets up a third round meeting with Poland's Jerzy Janowicz.
Roger Federer plays later on looking to confirm his World Tour Finals place for the 12th season in a row if he beats South Africa's Kevin
